If you're looking for a day out into Wales with a nice ride to start and end the day, there are few better or sceinic routes than the route from Chester to Fairbourne through Corwen and Bala, you could even take a diversion to the Ponderosa Cafe on the Horseshoe Pass near Llangollen.
Starting in, or near Chester, take the A55 round and get onto the A550 (Junction 35) toward Penyffordd. Just after Penyfford, take the A5104 to Corwen where you pick up the A494, hop onto the A5 briefly before continuing down the A494 down through Bala to Dolgellau where you turn onto the A470. Continue along the A470 and turn onto the A493 signposted Fairbourne.
Surrounded by Snowdonia National Park, Fairbourne is a lovely seaside resort with plenty to do including the Narrow Gauge Steam Railway, Rowen Nature Centre and much more.
Note: Police Speed Traps are common place along this route.
