Macclesfield has a history in the silk industry, with several factories in the day. Now, there are only a couple left, and these have been converted into museums.
Being located on the Edge of the Peak District makes Macclesfield an ideal staging point for outdoor adventurers to take to the hills for some light walking in the local forests to serious hiking and climbing up in the hills.
