Congleton, also known as 'Beartown' after selling the town bible to buy a new bear, has a rich history as a market town from the late 12 hundreds.
The Macclesfield Canal passes close to Congleton and is one of the North West's most beautiful inland waterways, which links the Peak Forest canal at Marple and the Trent & Mersey near Kidsgrove. There is a fantastic series of 12 locks at Bosley before crossing the Dane via Telford’s superb iron aquaduct.
The mature tree lined avenues and location next to the River Dane make Congleton Park and ideal location to unwind.
