Alsager is located close to the Staffordshire border and is surrounded by farmland and countryside. At the centre of Alsager lies the Lake, Alsager Mere, this isolated pool was once the focal point of the town, but is now only accessible bt two fenced public viewing areas and by the lucky residents with gardens backing onto the water.
Alsager is now possibly best known for its university campus, which was originally one of the teaching colleges set up at former army barracks for teaching the men who had left the forces after the second world war. They were also needed to teach the ‘post war bulge’ of children born to couples reunited after the wartime separation.
