Moto GP Visits Motorland Aragón
19th September 2010

Motorland Aragón is the new Spanish 5.345 km Circuit, designed by Hermann Tilke, officially opened in September 2009 and has three different routes depending on the event, was the stage for the 13th Round of the Moto GP.

Casey Stoner has had a tough season so far, but even with taking a trip down the tarmac, was strong all weekend taking the front of the grid, 0.3 of second ahead of Jorge Lorenzo in second and Dani Pedrosa taking the 3rd rounding out the first row with Nicky Hayden on the second Ducati in 4th, Ben Spies carrying on his great rookie year in 5th and Randy De Puniet in 6th.

Pedrosa wasn't as quick of the line as usual, and got sucked back after a slight slide in the first, while Stoner and Lorenzo stormed through. Lorenzo was able to pass Stoner, but this was short lived as Stoner retook 1st at the next corner.

Pedrosa was quickly make progress and was soon passed Hayden into 3rd down the hill with the Honda's power, and started to chase down Lerenzo and Stoner. Mean while, Valantino Rosi, still suffering from injury, fighting for 7th place with Simonchelli and Bautista with Spies and Dovizioso battling for 5th.

As Pedrosa reeled Lerenzo in, Stoner was building his lead, and Pedrosa was soon into 2nd leaving Lerenzo to be chased by Hayden, Spies and Divizioso.

As the race went on, it was quite clear that the Ducati's were loving the track as Casey Stoner retained his lead over Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden closed in on Jorge Lorenzo's Yamaha. Ben Spies was having a great ride in 5th, fending off the Honda of Andrea Dovizioso, which went on to the final lap.

As Stoner came across the line over 5 seconds ahead of Pedrosa, there was some action behind while Hayden was diving into the corners trying to pass Lorenzo at ever opportunity, Dovizioso took a slide giving Spies 5th, and Hayden took Lorenzo's podium streak in the final corners to come in 3rd.

It was a great first race for Motorland Aragón, and I'm sure the Moto GP will be looking forward to returning to this Circuit.
