Tatton Park is one of Cheshire’s largest and most popular visitor attractions, with over 750,000 visitors of all ages passing through the 1,000 acres of deer park, Mansion, Gardens, Old Hall, rare breeds Farm and events.
Tatton park hosts many events throughout the year, most notable is the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show.
Tatton Park has a history dating back to Bronze Age farming, and has been home to deer herds the 13th century. In the late Tudor period Tatton was acquired by the Egerton family who owned the estate until the last Lord Egerton died without heirs in 1958.
Maurice Egerton passed on the estate to the National Trust, and in 1960 a lease was drawn up with Cheshire County Council who managed and financed the property on behalf of the National Trust until April 2009 when that responsibility was transferred to Cheshire East Council with the council change over.
